22575VIC Course in Basic Oxygen Administration for First Aid

The course in basic Oxygen Administration applies to individuals who will be able to recognise and respond to emergency situations that may require them to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a casualty in a range of situations, including the application of oxygen therapy or oxygen resuscitation, as appropriate, until the arrival of medical assistance. The course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.
This course is applicable to workers or nominated workplace first aiders from an industry sector where they may be required to provide CPR and basic oxygen therapy in an emergency situation, as part of their role at work or in the community at large.

Location:
We run our classes at the 54 Cessnock Rd, Weston or in the workplace
Course Duration (face to face)
- Face to Face – 5 hours – full face to face course.
- Blended delivery – N/A.
- Online delivery with face to face Practical assessment – self paced online learning with an approx. scheduled 360 minutes (6 hours) face to face practical assessment in the training room.
- Refresher training – N/A
Assessment Requirements
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.
Certificate Renewal Requirements
Certificates will require renewal after 12 months
Entry Requirements
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.
Assessment Activities
Performance tasks and practical scenarios:
- Adult CPR (including defibrillation and placing the casualty in the recovery position)
- Infant CPR
- Administer oxygen to an adult and child
Documentation: Completion of an incident report form
Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of short-answer and multiple-choice questions.
